OPT 2005 Championship
In 2005, the OPT expanded the OPT Championship game from five players to eight players, and expanded the OPT Championship Fund. Now before each regular tournament begins, $2 from each prize pot is removed and placed into the Championship Fund. For each of the four majors, $5 is placed into the Fund.
The eight seats are divided this way: the first four are still the four winners of the four majors. If one player wins a major, but already has a seat from winning a pervious major, that seat goes to the next qualifying player in that tournament.
The fifth seat is still awarded to the person on top of the OPT leaderboard.
The sixth seat is up for grabs between the top eight players on the OPT Leaderboard who have not already grabbed a seat in the Championship after the 2005 ACPC. They can play in a tournament for a $1 entry fee that goes directly into the OPT Championship Fund. The winner only gets the seat into the Championship game.
The seventh seat is awarded in the OPT Power Rankings Tournament. This is a freeroll match between the top two players on the Power Rankings that do not have a seat by this point.
The eight seat is awarded to the OPT Sweepstakes winner. The OPT Sweepstakes is simply a reverse raffle that anyone who's played at least two games in both seasons of the OPT, or any player who has played at least 10 games in 2005 can pay $1 to enter. All the money goes into the OPT Championship Fund. This event is currently planned to happen the day of the Championship.
