Here's how this is figured out: A player gets 5 points for winning a special event (or anything with a $5 buy-in), 2.5 points for a normal tournament ($2.50 buy-ins), and 1 for an unofficial tournament win. An unofficial tournament win is any game with only a $1 buy-in, or any game in which one player pays the buy-in for all or most of the other players, regardless of the amount of the buy-in.
